Fall open burn is allowed from September 15 – October 31 but a permit is required. This 45-day period is for burning yard waste and tree trimmings. Forecasting is only available for a 3-day window but multiple 3-day air quality permits can be completed during the 45-day permit window if needed.
Before burning, check that the current air clearing index is greater than 500 (air.utah.gov). We urge those intending to burn yard waste to exercise extreme caution, form small piles, create adequate fire breaks between other fuels, and never leave a fire unattended.
